Just a New Slogan? No. It’s a Mission

Happy July 4th! Independence Day. Quite a fitting day to unleash a new slogan here at 20somethingfinance.

But before I tell you what it is and why its central to the blog, I want to tell you what was wrong with the old slogan:

Your Foundation for Financial Success.

First of all, its not about me. To imply this blog, on its own, was a foundation for anyone was assuming a bit of arrogance on my part (oops!).

Also, theres not much inspiration in the words foundation or success (double oops).

A New Focus

Theres a general theme thats starting to be the focus of my writing, this site, and my life. Freedom. Independence.

As I highlighted just last week in my list of things money can buy that will lead to your happiness my number one selection was freedom.

You see, all of the frugality, wealth accumulation, investing risk, career acceleration, getting out of debt, insurance, and stress that we focus on comes down to one thing we want freedom! Freedom from debt, freedom from stress, freedom from the man, freedom from being stuck in the rat race, freedom from having to live a life that we know we are not being true to ourselves.

Its all about freeing ourselves to create and live our own American dream not the one that the TV ads tell us we should be living.

With that, heres the new logo and slogan!

Much better (in my opinion, at least).

The new slogan focuses on what we all want out of this: freedom. While others are further increasing their debt, buying more stuff, growing their financial stress and worry, and working too many hours in jobs they hate while not getting closer to their financial goals you are getting a head start. They may wake up some day. But you have arrived and you are taking action.

Its something that you, me, and everyone else here at 20somethingfinance can rally around.

And I swear that I did not plan on unveiling it during Independence Day! (that just kind of happened)

All of the tips on this site are focused on giving you that head start. But sometimes you just need a little inspiration to fire you up or help you refocus. Here are a few previous posts that Ive written that I think will do just that:
